This is why Alfa Romeo is building its first-ever SUV called the Stelvio which debuts in Los Angeles this week. Based on the Giulia mid-size saloon, the Stelvio aims for the sporty SUVs like the BMW X4, Jaguar F-Pace, Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe and Porsche Macan. The design of the Stelvio has been penned in such a way to look more dynamic than its intended opposition. Like in the BMW 3-series-chasing Giulia, Alfa is using a top-down approach in launching the Stelvio whose deliveries are slated to start next year. As in the Giulia, lower down the Stelvio range will be the Veloce featuring 280hp 2.0-litre petrol-turbo motor.
